One Semester Down

Last week I finished my first semester of school. 1 down 15 to go! That thought actually doesn't depress me. The thing that bums me out is getting an A- in one of my classes which left me with a GPA of 3.9, I was so happy with the thought of getting a 4.0 for the first time in my life. I thought an A was an A. I had no idea that an A- is worth less. If that's the case shouldn't I receive more points for an A+. In my other classes I got 98% and 107% that more than evens out a 93%. I'm not sure why I'm complaining, I should know by now that things aren't always fair. Oh well, I'm going to enjoy the 3 week break I have until summer semester.

concussion #1

We've had our first concussion and the winner of course was Noah. I'm not quite sure what happened because the only witnesses ranged in age from 3 to 5. The kids were playing together and from what I could gather he fell off the back of Crew's quad. There was A LOT of blood, but I know head wounds bleed more than others. I checked the cut it wasn't big enough to require stitches, checked his pupils they were normal, and he wasn't even acting hurt, he kept saying he was fine. So, I didn't think much of it until he threw-up, and kept throwing-up. I took him to the hospital at 12:30a.m. and we were home by 2:30a.m. and ya he had a concussion. I had to watch him closely and keep him calm for 24 hours and for Noah holding still is a very difficult thing to do, however; he was somewhat compliant. Probably due to lack of sleep.

Noah is by far our most coordinated child but he's also the one that recieves the most injuries. I guess that's due to almost a complete lack of self safety. His first attempt at being a stunt man was when he tried riding his bike down the stairs and he wasn't even 2 years old. I'm going to start a collection of hospital bands that he'll receive over the years. Some of his hospital visits have been because of needing stitches for finger, stitches for eyebrow, and being drunk off of cough syrup and yes he is only 4!

A Good Day

Today was a good day for a couple of reasons. First of all it's my big sisters birthday. Happy Birthday Andrea! and even though were adults thanks for acting like a little girl with me and letting me put crazy make-up on you. You need to come visit me more often. I get quite bored without anyone to dress up.
Another good thing about today; It was Ryder's first day of nursury and he went happily with no problems. I know this makes Tyler kinda sad because he's losing his little priesthood buddy.

My Hair Cut

I was feeling very brave today when I went to the salon and this was the result. I like it so far but we'll have to see what happens when I style it myself. I think this is the shortest that my hair has ever been. I've realized long hair is too time consuming so hopefully this will give me a few extra minutes a day, (something I desperately need).

18 months and walking

It only took him 18 months to figure it out but Ryder is finally walking! Although he's still a bit unsteady, hence the scraped nose.

Entering The Blogosphere

For the past couple of years I've wanted a blog but never actually took the step of creating one. Thanks to a final assignment for my computer course I've been forced into it. We had to blog about a specific u-tube video for our first entry, just in case you were wondering what that was about. I'm hoping that I'll find time to blog at least every couple weeks or so. I've never kept a journal so I love the idea of having a place to keep family memories. I love and miss all of you, hope everyone had a great Easter.

Web 2.0 - What does it really mean?

Thought provoking YouTube video.

I couldn't watch this video without thinking about the many ways the web has enhanced my life. I definitely have an appreciation of it and even a dependence on it; especially now that I'm in school. Many of my classes I do on-line so without the web, school would be too difficult to pursue, at least until my baby gets a little older. I use the web for simple things such as; looking up a definition, or more complex things such as research for a paper or project. My daily usages include checking the news, weather, and medical conditions (ya so I might be a hypochondriac).
I love the many popular options of keeping in touch with others, I live away from most of my family and friends so the web gives me a way of staying connected. I really appreciate those that are devoted bloggers, it gives me an insight into their daily lives, and I love viewing the many pictures and videos of nieces and nephews that I rarely get to see.
Another interesting thought I had after watching this video is that the web is so much more than a computer, it's made up of billions of words, pictures, videos, and art, that had to come from somewhere, or more specifically someone. Someones knowledge, thoughts, ideas, and opinions. So in a sense the web is just a group of people coming together through technology.
